The Cubs certainly did not expect, when June began, to end the month double digits behind the Brewers in the NL Central.
But here we are.
For more on the Brewers, here’s Harrison Freuck, manager of our SB Nation Brewers site Brew Crew Ball.
Since Milwaukee welcomed the Cubs to town to close out the month of May, the Brewers have just kept winning through June, as they’re now a season-high 15 games over .500 following a three-game sweep of the defending World Champion Texas Rangers.
The Brewers have continued to face the injury bug, as Robert Gasser was just the latest in a series of pitchers to go on the injured list for an extended time (he’s expected to return next season), while Gary Sánchez, Oliver Dunn, and Joey Ortiz have all found themselves injured in just the last few days.
