Rather than re-write that article, I simply repost it here in its entirety (with a couple of minor edits in order to focus more on the no-hit angle than the 1969 season angle of the original) — including video of Jimmy Qualls’ ninth-inning hit that broke up a perfect game bid by Tom Seaver. It is the only perfect game bid in this series of articles.
From 1952 through 1972, the Cubs were involved in nine no-hitters — six by Cubs pitchers, three thrown against them.
