Baseball Prospectus released their rankings of the Top 101 prospects in baseball today and I’m happy to report that shortstop Nico Hoerner was ranked as their 86th-best prospect in baseball.
Hoerner, the Cubs’ first-round pick last June, played just 14 games between Mesa, Eugene and South Bend before his season was ended by an elbow injury. In that short time, he was extremely impressive, hitting .327/.450/.571 while showing some good defensive skills at shortstop. But what really got Hoerner noticed was his strong campaign in the Arizona Fall League.
