Montero undergoes MRI on injured left thumb

CHICAGO -- Cubs catcher Miguel Montero left Saturday's game after two innings with a jammed left thumb.

Montero had to chase a wild pitch by starter Jon Lester in the first, and then throw to first when the White Sox's Jose Abreu advanced. But the Cubs' catcher stayed in the game through the second inning.

Taylor Teagarden, promoted from Triple-A Iowa on July 4 when David Ross went on the seven-day disabled list with a concussion, took over as the catcher on Saturday. Ross was eligible to come off the DL on Friday, but the Cubs wanted to wait until after the All-Star break.
