Javy Baez was in the video room just off the dugout when Hurricane Miggy struck Wrigley Field.
“I was watching video of my at-bat,” he said. “I threw all the chairs and started jumping around.”
Baez quickly ran into the dugout, where his teammates, and pretty much everyone else in the creaky stadium, were in a frenzy from Miguel Montero’s tiebreaking, pinch-hit grand slam in the Cubs’ 8-4 win in Game 1 of the National League Championship Series on Saturday night.
“I thought the roof was coming down from the fans jumping, man,” Baez said. “I don’t think nobody saw Dexter [Fowler] homered, because everyone was still jumping.
