When the “last 10 games” column of the standings can’t effectively communicate your awesomeness, things are going pretty well. That was the case on Saturday morning as the Cubs’ 11-game win streak only showed as 10-0 in that column. The streak would end later that day when Carl Edwards Jr. finally had a rough inning and Joe Smith came in, poured gasoline all over himself and finished the job in an 8-4 loss to the Cardinals.
But the damage had already been done. The Cardinals came into the series barely clinging to the edge of the NL Central race.
