The Texas Rangers and Chicago Cubs are the favorites to land free-agent right-hander Tyson Ross, according to Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports.
Ross visited the Rangers on Monday and had previously met with with the Cubs, per Passan.
The 29-year-old was non-tendered by the San Diego Padres in December. Ross started for the Pads on Opening Day last season and missed the rest of 2016 with right shoulder inflammation. He underwent surgery for thoracic outlet syndrome in October; the procedure has an estimated recovery time of four to six months.
