Last week, I wrote about how MLB apparently botched a rain delay in a Phillies/Braves game in Atlanta. They made the teams wait two hours and 45 minutes even though this was getaway day for both teams. It was a divisional game and could have easily been suspended and finished in June, when the Phillies next come to Atlanta.
Instead, the game (naturally) went into extra innings and ended just before 1 a.m. Both teams dragged themselves into hotels, the Braves in Tampa and the Phillies In St. Louis, when dawn was breaking. As you might have been able to predict, both the Braves and Phillies played tired the next night, the Braves losing 6-3 to the Rays and the Phillies shut out by the Cardinals on just three hits.
