The World Baseball Classic has been great fun since it began in 2006, providing compelling games and the excitement of MLB players playing for their countries. The last out of the 2023 WBC, with Shohei Ohtani striking out Mike Trout to give Japan the championship, was great theater:
Today, Major League Baseball announced the pools and locations where the 2026 WBC will be played. Personally, I’m a bit disappointed that there won’t be any games in the Phoenix area, as there have been in the past, as I’ve enjoyed attending WBC games. In 2026, the USA venues will be Minute Maid Park in Houston and loanDepot Park in Miami.
