When the Chicago Cubs are mentioned, veteran catcher Miguel Montero is certainly not the first name that pops into one’s mind. Nor is he the second, third or fourth. For arguments sake, he is likely not the fifth either. Montero joined the club last summer and many were excited for a consistent left-handed bat to help anchor the middle of the lineup.
Sadly, that wasn’t the case. He battled a thumb injury and only appeared in 113 games. He hit .248 and struck out in 30 percent of his at-bats. He only drove in 54 runs.
