When the idea was first floated this summer that Andrei Markov would be replaced on the Canadiens blue line by committee, Mark Streit’s name was one of the first mentioned. He would be able to produce offensively and help the power play, we were told.
Yet here we are, a week away from the start of the regular season, and Streit is not assured of even making the team, let alone helping to replace Markov.
“I’ve played two games and I don’t think I played very well,” the 39-year-old defenceman admitted Thursday. “Honestly, there’s a lot of room for improvement.
