ESPN's "Long Gone Summer" premiered on Sunday, and the initial reviews haven't been the most positive. The documentary centers on Cardinals' slugger Mark McGwire, with Sammy Sosa interviews few and far between. The elephant in the room — performance-enhancing drugs usage by McGwire and Sosa (allegedly) — was largely not discussed until the end.
But besides that? A glaring issue with the documentary is its usage of present-day b-roll of Wrigley Field and Busch Stadium, mixed in with highlights of Cubs and Cardinals games from the 1990s. And, yes, it's as bad as it sounds.
Y'all.
