You might have heard that the Chicago Cubs have had a pretty good season. With their 100th victory, they became the first Cubs team to reach that mark since Gabby Hartnett led the 1935 club to the National League pennant.
What might seem a little surprising is that the Cubs have run away with the best record in the NL. In this Year of Tanking, we might have expected several teams to challenge the 100-win mark, especially since three NL teams won at least 97 games last season. Instead, the Washington Nationals and Los Angeles Dodgers both will have to finish strong this week just to get to 95 wins, and neither of the wild-card teams will even reach 90.
