LHP Manny Parra announced on his Twitter account April 9 that he had season-ending Tommy John surgery. The Cubs officially placed him on the minor league 60-day DL and he will spend the year rehabbing from elbow surgery.
The Cubs signed Manny Parra to a minor league contract in late February that included a non-roster invite to Spring Training. Parra threw the ball well after reporting to camp. Rumors suggested if the Cubs traded Travis Wood it could create a spot on the Opening Day roster for Parra.
