MESA, Ariz. — Shortstop Addison Russell wore a wrap on his back before Tuesday’s penultimate spring training game at Sloan Park, but he’s hopeful he’ll be ready for the regular season, which begins Sunday night in St. Louis.
On the other side of the clubhouse, second baseman/outfielder Ben Zobrist can turn his neck again and he was back in the lineup against the San Francisco Giants.
Russell was a late scratch on Friday, while Zobrist hasn’t played in a game since March 19.
The Cubs have depth, sure, but it’s not unlimited. Health is likely the biggest question mark for the Cubs in their World Series defense.
