Letters from Camp: Eddie Butler, Casey Kelly among promising pitching depth options

MESA, Ariz. – As the Cubs' starting rotation begins to get more work throughout the spring, the development of their starting pitching depth continues to be a top priority. Minor league catcher Taylor Davis has worked with a lot of the pitchers during games and side sessions and suggested that former top prospect Eddie Butler may be the most impressive of the group.

“Eddie Butler kind of stood out to me a little bit,” Davis told me. “The first bullpen I caught, you saw the stuff. The second one I caught of him, he really put it together.
