Let’s talk about Cubs President of Baseball Operations Jed Hoyer...

One year ago tomorrow, I posted an article provocatively headlined “The Cubs should fire Jed Hoyer.”

Admittedly, some or maybe even most of that article was knee-jerk, based on things that were happening with the team at the time, a team that most of us hoped would contend, but entering play on June 27, 2023 was 37-39, not much better off than the 2024 Cubs are entering play tonight in San Francisco.

There have been calls for Cubs chairman Tom Ricketts to fire Hoyer and some of that, again, is knee-jerk because of the team’s bad record (now 37-43) in a year they were supposed to contend.
