MESA, Ariz. – Kyle Schwarber has just 329 plate appearances in his career, including the postseason. However, that hasn’t stopped him from becoming a cult hero among Cubs fans. His 2015 playoff performance, in which he slugged five home runs and moved into first place all-time on the Cubs' postseason home run list, placed him squarely in the hearts of Cubs fans for life.
After a devastating knee injury knocked him out early in 2016, Schwarber’s unexpected return for the World Series was, as general manager Jed Hoyer put it at Cubs Convention, “the stuff of legend.”
That performance, combined with his pure talent, has expectations for Schwarber, sky high.
