A suburban Chicago kid homered Saturday night in the World Series at Wrigley Field, a dream realized for millions of kids.
How many kids from Northbrook or Hinsdale or Lincoln Park or Buffalo Grove went to sleep under pictures of Santo or Ryno or Sammy or D-Lee and dreamed about socking one to right field in an October chill?
Northbrook native Jason Kipnis realized that dream for all those kids, but he did it for the other team, which is the most Cub thing to happen.
Before the World Series started, Cleveland second baseman Kipnis, a Cubs fan through his years as an amateur baseball, said, “There’s not one part of me that doesn’t wish for this curse to keep going.
