Jon Lester doesn’t know what the future holds, but he knows two things. He wants to play in 2021 and hopes to do so with the Cubs.
“Obviously, in my situation there is a lot of uncertainty about next year with the option,” Lester said on Len Kasper and Jim Deshaies’ podcast. “Obviously, I would love to be a Chicago Cub until the end."
Lester is under contract through 2020 with an option for 2021. He leans hard on routine as anyone in the Cubs clubhouse, hinting at his desire to retire with one of the two franchises he's most familiar with: the Cubs or Red Sox.
