There were plenty of reasons the Cubs brought John Lackey into the fold this past winter. His World Series experience was prime among them.
But don’t ask the 24-year-old Kris Bryant about that. The reigning Rookie of the Year and MVP favorite was asked about what Lackey could add to the team in October even when he wasn’t on the mound.
“I think he may have pitched in a World Series, might have won one,” Bryant said. “I’m not sure. I’m still kinda young.”
Of course, Lackey has two World Series rings and started the clinching game for both of them.
