Joe Maddon gets head start on 2017 season

Two days before the Cubs Convention, Cubs manager Joe Maddon found some time to relax in a Chicago coffee shop. As he let his mind wander, he decided to jot down a lineup and send it off to bench coach Brandon Hyde and media relations director Peter Chase.

“I found a new coffee shop, I’m not going to tell you where but I love it,” Maddon said during his Thanksmas dinner in Humboldt Park on Wednesday. “So I was really comfortable there this morning. It was not a whole lot of action, but it’s got a great vibe.
