Joe Maddon, coaches, working on Javier Baez mental approach

CLEVELAND -- Chicago Cubs manager Joe Maddon, along with hitting coaches John Mallee and Eric Hinske, are attempting to get struggling second baseman Javier Baez to adjust his mental approach at the plate. Baez is 3-for-21 (.143) with nine strikeouts in the World Series after winning MVP of the NLCS.

"Trying to get him to readjust his thought process," Maddon said before Game 6. "Just have him slow things down. When things are going quickly it's hard to put the brakes on. We're attempting to do that with him. Slow it down mentally."

Maddon has Baez batting ninth against Josh Tomlin and the Cleveland Indians on Tuesday night.
