Javier Báez's visit with a hand specialist brought back both good and bad news for the Cubs and their starting shortstop.
In terms of good news, the Cubs told reporters in San Diego that while Báez indeed suffered a hairline fracture in his left thumb, the ligaments are intact. However, he’s unlikely to play in the rest of the regular season and will instead spend that time rehabbing.
Hand specialist confirms that UCL is intact in Javy’s left thumb. Unlikely to play this month, will rehab rest of the way and hope is he’ll come back for playoffs.
