For all that was made of the rain-delay speech during Game 7 of the World Series, Cubs fans might have a new favorite Jason Heyward moment.
This one they saw with their own eyes. And boy did they hear it with their own ears — not necessarily the crack of the bat when Heyward launched, just absolutely hammered, a walk-off grand slam into the right-field bleachers to beat the Philadelphia Phillies on Wednesday night, but the roar of what remained of a 40,000-plus crowd, which went from zero to 100 in a snap.
Heyward, rain-delay speech aside, hasn’t necessarily produced these kinds of moments during his Cubs career, which is now in its third season.
