NEW YORK – It’s been a shocking turn of events. Once deemed the hottest pitcher on the planet Chicago Cubs ace Jake Arrieta had his second consecutive sub-par outing in his team’s 4-1 defeat to the New York Mets in Game 2 of the NLCS on Sunday night.
The first three batters of the night hit Arrieta hard as Daniel Murphy capped the inning with yet another home run though he practically hit it off his shoes. Arrieta lasted five innings giving up four runs for the second consecutive game.
“I put us in a big hole in the first,” Arrieta said afterwards.
