Jake Arrieta was named the National League Cy Young Award winner by the BBWAA. Arrieta received 17 of the possible 30 first-place votes, 11 second place votes and two third place votes for a total of 169 points. Zack Greinke finished second with 149 points and Clayton Kershaw was third with 101 points.
The Astros’ Dallas Keuchel won the AL Cy Young Award over David Price and Sonny Gray.
Jake Arrieta is the first Cubs’ pitcher to win the NL Cy Young Award since Greg Maddox and joins Maddux (1992), Rick Sutcliffe (1984), Bruce Sutter (1979) and Ferguson Jenkins (1971) as the fifth NL Cy Young Award winner in franchise history.
