Jake Arrieta has had a plethora of success against the Pittsburgh Pirates in his career, carrying a 1.99 career ERA against them into Monday’s start. And that doesn't even include his 11-strikeout shutout effort in Pittsburgh in last season’s Wild Card game.
But Arrieta’s last start against the Pirates didn’t mirror his 12 previous regular-season ones, two of which came as a member of the Baltimore Orioles in 2011 and 2012.
