CHICAGO -- The Cubs may have a better feel on Wednesday as to whether shortstop Addison Russell needs to go on the disabled list because of a sprained left middle finger.
Russell underwent an MRI on Tuesday and was able to take batting practice and play catch on Wednesday. He sprained his finger during his second at-bat on Sunday against the Mets.
"He's feeling pretty good," Cubs manager Joe Maddon said Wednesday. "We'll evaluate after he plays catch ... and then try to figure out [Wednesday] or the next day.
