‘I’m Ok’ — Almora thankful for support in aftermath of foul-ball incident

ST. LOUIS — Cubs outfielder Albert Almora still plans to connect with the family of the child who was hospitalized after getting hit by his foul ball in Houston on Wednesday night. But it will have to wait.

“Right now the family wants complete privacy and obviously we’re gonna respect that,” Almora said prior to Friday night’s game against the Cardinals at Busch Stadium. “When they’re ready … I’ll do whatever I can to put a smile on that girl’s face, the family’s face. That’s all I can say about that.”

Almora was in the lineup against Cardinals on Friday night, but still seemed to be shaken emotionally from the episode, which was punctuated by Almora’s distraught, tearful reaction after realizing the girl had been injured by the foul ball.
