The Cubs are headed home for the winter, but one player’s taking home a bit of hardware with him.
Ian Happ was named National League Player of the Week for the final week of the 2019 season.
Happ hit .455/.500/1.136 (1.636 OPS) during the team’s season-ending road trip to Pittsburgh and St. Louis. He went 10-for-22 with three doubles and four home runs.
Unfortunately, that helped lead to only two wins in the six games, but Happ at last showed some of the promise that had the Cubs select him in the first round (ninth overall) in 2015.
