First, I should say that I have been a fan of the all star game and the home run derby for as long as I can remember. Even in the last 6 years or so since the advent of the MLB Network, I have found myself sucked in to the parade during all star break as well. However, the home run derby had gone a bit stale for me in recent years, if I am being totally honest. The last year that I remember being really excited about it was 2008 because of Josh Hamilton, but the sad irony of that derby is that he was not even the winner, as Justin Morneau took that honor.
