Many of them, including Cubs righthander Adbert Alzolay, were injured and not likely to play in 2025. It’s still possible that the Cubs will re-sign Alzolay to a minor-league deal, with the idea he might be ready to return in 2026.
There are two pitchers whose names stood out to me as guys the Cubs should take a close look at, and sign if the price is right.
First is Kyle Finnegan, who was the closer for the Nationals in 2024.
