The 2-year-old girl, who was struck by Cubs center fielder Albert Almora Jr.’s foul ball last month, suffered a skull fracture and seizure, according to Houston’s KTRK-TV.
It’s the family’s first statement since the incident occurred May 30 during a Cubs-Astros game at Minute Maid Park in Houston.
The girl also had subdural bleeding, brain contusions and brain edema, according to the report. She’s taking medication to prevent future seizures, the station reported.
“The family’s foremost concern is about the health of their child, but they also wanted me to extend their thanks to the fans and the Astros for their concern,” Houston attorney Richard Mithoff said in a statement to the local station.
