Get to know the Myrtle Beach Pelicans

The Myrtle Beach Pelicans, the low-A affiliate of the Chicago Cubs, start their season tomorrow night (Friday) at their arch-rival Charleston RiverDogs. The Pelicans have their home opener on Tuesday when the Carolina Mudcats come to town.

As the low-A team and the first step outside of complex ball for most players, the Pelicans are a bit of an unknown. But they have several highly-regarded prospects, either recent draft picks or international signings, that are looking to live up to their lofty expectations.

Who is in charge? Former Cubs minor leaguer Yovanny Cuevas takes the reins as manager from the legendary Buddy Bailey.
