How refreshing to have a boring Cubs win, and largely thanks to a phenomenal night from Jason Hammel. I was glad to have him back when he returned this past winter, and he only cemented that after Monday’s performance. 7 strikeouts in 8 innings with just 4 hits. Not to dance on the grave of Adam Wainwright‘s season, but after he was sent to the DL on Sunday and it was announced that his season is over yesterday, the NL Central feels a lot more winnable.
