Anthony Rizzo placed on 10-Day DL … Cubs selected contract of INF/OF Efren Navarro from Triple-A Iowa
Prior to the home opener Tuesday, the Cubs officially placed Anthony Rizzo on the 10-day disabled list retroactive to April 6. Rizzo is eligible to be activated from the DL on Monday, April 16 when the Cubs open a three-game series at Wrigley against the Cardinals.
Efren Navarro will wear uniform number 50. And with the addition of Navarro, the Cubs 40-man roster stands at 39 players.
The 31-year-old Navarro has played parts of five major league seasons with the Los Angeles Angels (2011, 2013-16) and Detroit Tigers (2017), batting .
