The Cubs keep rolling as they defeated the Royals 5-4 to win their fifth straight game and improve to 9-2. Unfortunately a rough ninth inning again shows the areas of team weakness.
Kyle Hendricks went seven strong innings to get his second victory of the season. Offensively, the Cubs had three homers and the first two weren’t from anyone you’d probably guess if I gave you five guesses.
Jason Heyward and Jason Kipnis each hit two-run homers and Willson Contreras added an insurance solo shot in the eighth which turned out to be pretty important.
Craig Kimbrel was given another opportunity to show he deserves to be on the roster and once again he failed.
