When Eddie Butler got the call that changed his career, it came from Cubs general manager Jed Hoyer, not Cubs president Theo Epstein.
“From what Jed said, I think Theo was on a plane with Eddie Vedder,” Butler said with a laugh Wednesday.
One flies around with Eddie Vedder. One calls Eddie Butler. That’s called a pecking order. But what’s the difference between a couple of Eddies?

One has his guitars hanging up in the Wrigley Field players’ rec room, the other is trying to make himself at home there.
