Cubs prospect OF Eloy Jimenez named Midwest League Player of the Week

Eloy Jimenez spent the week hitting home runs and on Monday the top power hitter in the Cubs’ system was named the Midwest League Player of the Week (May 16-22).

Eloy Jimenez, 19, finished the week with his fourth home run on Sunday. Jimenez went 1-for-2 with a two-run homer in the first inning and two walks. Jimenez is riding a nine-game hitting streak with five multi-hit performances over that span.

Jimenez has exploded power wise. Four of his six home runs have been over four games since May 19.
