SAN FRANCISCO – It’s rare to see reporters gathered around a third-base coach after a game.
It's even rarer to see it and not have them peppering him with questions about a blunder. But after Monday night’s 5-3 win over the San Francisco Giants, there was Gary Jones in the middle of the visitor’s clubhouse at AT&T Park talking about sending Javier Báez home on his inside-the-park home run.
With a man on first and two out, the right-handed slugger shot a ball towards the 421-foot mark in right-center field. Báez glanced up at the ball for a moment, then took off running realizing he’d hit the ball to the deepest part of the field.
