Rock musician Eddie Van Halen, best known for the group that bore his last name, passed away Tuesday from cancer, aged 65:

Sources directly connected to the rock star tell us ... he died at St. John’s Hospital in Santa Monica Tuesday. His wife, Janie, was by his side, along with his son, Wolfgang, his ex-wife Valerie Bertinelli, and Alex, Eddie’s brother and drummer.
Normally an obit like this wouldn’t belong on a baseball site, but those of you who were Cubs fans in 1984 will well remember Van Halen’s “Jump,” one of his band’s most famous songs (with David Lee Roth’s vocals), which was used as WGN-TV’s introductory music on game broadcasts that year:
The song was also played when the Cubs came on the field at Wrigley — one of the first times rock music had been used for a Cubs team intro.
