This was supposed to be a happy recap, highlighted by Kyle Tucker’s three-run homer in the eighth inning that gave the Cubs a four-run lead. Tucker has hit very well in the early going, so far he’s been worth the haul that was sent to the Astros for him.
The other thing Jed Hoyer & Co. supposedly did this winter was address the bullpen failures that doomed the Cubs’ 2024 season.
