Derek Carr returns to practice just days after diagnosis of 2-to-6 weeks — the huhs and whys

Donald Penn broke some news Thursday afternoon.
The Raiders left tackle said that quarterback Derek Carr told him he was “way ahead of schedule” as far as coming back from the small fracture in his back.
Penn’s sources proved correct, as Carr was later out there at the start of practice, throwing during individual drills. He was a little stiff in his movements and was listed as a “limited” participant when the team issued its practice report afterward.
Carr was supposed to be out two to six weeks with the transverse process fracture, according to coach Jack Del Rio on Monday, so his surprise appearance Thursday raises a lot of questions.
