The Chicago Cubs today activated infielder Dansby Swanson from the 10-day injured list and optioned infielder Jared Young to Triple-A Iowa.
Swanson, 29, was placed on the injured list July 8 (retroactive to July 6) with a left heel contusion. In his first year with the Cubs, the right-handed hitting infielder is batting .258 (84-for-325) with 15 doubles, two triples, 10 home runs and 36 RBI in 83 games.
