MESA, Ariz. -- On the eve of voting day in Arizona, Chicago Cubs manager Joe Maddon had dinner with former presidential adviser David Axelrod. Maddon has taken a keen interest in the race for the White House.
"It’s been a very entertaining political season," Maddon said Tuesday. "It’s at the point where I prefer watching Fox and CNN over ESPN any day of the week. I’m totally enjoying the sport."
The Cubs were thrust into the political spotlight -- albeit tangentially -- when presidential candidate Donald Trump tweeted about the team's ownership, then followed up with comments to the Washington Post.
