CHICAGO -- Jon Lester is in a groove.
The left-hander gave up one hit over seven shutout innings on Saturday to lead the Cubs to a 2-0 victory over the Pirates at Wrigley Field. The outing follows the seven shutout innings he threw against the Mets on June 3, when he gave up two hits.
With the win, the Cubs improved to 15-6 since May 18, and their starting pitchers are 10-5 in that stretch.
The only hit off Lester was a triple by Austin Meadows into the right-field corner with two outs in the third; he then retired the next 13.
