The Cubs had a challenging weekend in San Francisco. The Cubs won Friday night’s opener and gave the Giants all they could handle in their house. The Cubs actually outscored the Giants 11-7 but dropped two of three and lost the series.
Friday’s victory came at a price. Jason Heyward avoided a major injury. The Cubs will likely be without their right fielder for the entire series in St. Louis.
The Cubs made two roster moves in the wake of Heyward’s injury. Matt Szczur was activated and started Sunday’s finale. To make room for Szczur on the active roster, the Cubs designated Neil Ramirez for assignment.
