The 2015 Cubs season was special for many reasons. In addition to laying the groundwork for a World Series championship the next season, the ‘15 squad was the first Cubs team to really embrace walk-up songs. The curated tunes picked by the players (most of the time) became hugely popular among fans at Wrigley Field, and in some cases took on a life of their own.
Here’s a sample of some of the most popular Cubs walk-up songs for current players (taken from Twitter responses):
Anthony Rizzo: “Intoxicated” by Martin Solveig & GTA
Kyle Schwarber: “Thuggish Ruggish Bone” by Bone Thugs-N-Harmony
Kris Bryant: “Warm It Up Kris” by Kris Kross
Kyle Hendricks: “Sweet Emotion” by Aerosmith
And there are still a few throwbacks from former players that bring back fond memories of sunny summer days at Wrigley Field, like Omega’s “Ando En La Versace,” used by Starlin Castro.
