The Cubs have appeared on ESPN’s national broadcasts three times so far this year and have lost all three games: Opening Day at Texas, April 28 vs. the Red Sox at Fenway Park and May 26 vs. the Cardinals at St. Louis.
This has been such a success for the Cubs that ESPN has chosen them for Sunday Night Baseball on June 23, when they host the Mets at Wrigley Field. The Mets are having a miserable season, currently 24-36 and in fourth place in the NL East, having lost 17 of their last 23 games. The Mets have won their only appearance on SNB this year, a 4-3 win over the Braves May 12.
